Don’t be taken in by the in your face offers that supermarkets make on food. Stores such as ASDA, Tesco and Morrison’s all regularly offer large bumper offers that according to Trading Standards are often misleading.
An enquiry into discounted supermarket offers found over 600 examples where good were not what they claimed to be. A triple pack of Sainsbury’s Sweetcorn which claimed to be better value was actually 4p more expensive than just buying three individual tins.
ASDA were caught selling a 700g packet of Cathedral cheese at more than 20p more than what it would cost you to buy two 400g packets of the same product.
Trading Standards urge shoppers to take an interest in exactly what they are paying for and avoid being ripped off by large consumers.
